It’s a really great idea to try to prevent people from skimming credit cards at ATMs and gas pumps with anti-theft stickers – but the first important step? A man in California died last Friday shortly after Walmart loss-prevention staff detained him on suspicion of shoplifting.

According to reports, store employees detained the man around 1 p.m. PT on Friday, believing he had stolen clothing and mouthwash.

Nokia has updated its Maps application for Windows Phones to version 2.0, bringing several interesting new features, most notably favorites synchronization.
On Nokia Maps, you were already able to save your favorite places on the map. How can you find the size of a file on an NTFS drive? Sounds easy enough — just right-click and select Properties — but that will only provide the size of the file’s main data stream. Under NTFS, files may also have additional streams, which can be of any size (even larger than the main data stream), yet they’re not mentioned at all in the Explorer properties dialog.
While this may sound odd, it can be useful, and there are plenty of legitimate uses for alternate data streams (ADS). Create a favorite in Internet Explorer and the browser will store the site’s icon (if available) in the resulting shortcut, for instance…

Dan and his wife took a vacation in Hawaii, and rented a car for their use while visiting. Only the car that they rented was in pretty rough shape on the outside. They took it, but carefully documented all of the pre-existing damage. This was handy, since Budget proceeded to try to make Dan and Mrs. Dan accountable for the damage that they had done to the car during their supposed accident.
