Bing Desktop is beautiful and annoying
And if that’s not quite enough to interest you, then the program can also double as a wallpaper changer, with its option to download and use the daily Bing image.
Bing Desktop’s implementation seems a little odd, at first. The program runs all the time, for instance. That’s not unusual in itself (and it’s only using 7-8MB of RAM), but its icon wastes valuable real estate on your taskbar, rather than living in the system tray…
White House Begins Public Push For Support Of "Buffett Rule"
On the same day that President Obama is scheduled to speak about the topic at Florida Atlantic University, the White House has released a report on the so-called “Buffett Rule,” the proposition that households earning more than $1 million a year should not pay less than their fair share of federal income taxes.
According to the White House, “fair share” means no less than 30% of household income for those earning over $2 million. Households earning between $1-2 million would see an increased tax rate…

How One Startup Is Digitizing the Business of Personal Finance
This post originally appeared on the American Express OPEN Forum, where Mashable regularly contributes articles about leveraging social media and technology in small business.
The world of personal finance is slowly experiencing an Internet revolution, but many people still rely on the old brick-and-mortar shops for advice about investing, mortgages, retirement accounts and other complex financial processes.

Charities unnecessarily included the numbers in 990 forms, which are part of public record.
The figures come from Identity Finder, which sifted through nearly 3 million 990s from 2001 to 2006 to dig up SSNs from scholarship recipients, donors, trustees and others associated with the nonprofits…
Does Instagram Owe Kodak a Billion Dollar Thanks?
A few days ago, I was walking around the George Eastman Mansion in Rochester, NY, blissfully unaware that Facebook was preparing to buy Instagram for $1 billon dollars. I loved the tour. Eastman and his company, Kodak, turned early photography, an incredibly a cumbersome and rarified process in the mid 1800s, into a portable, easy-to-repeat consumer obsession. Today, the obsession continues but largely without Kodak, which is now mired in bankruptcy. In its place is, I guess, Instagram, the $1 billion-dollar baby…

Good Luck Finding "Titanic" On DVD These Days
If the coming centennial of the sinking of the RMS Titanic has got you feeling nostalgic, perhaps you might consider taking in the ultra-blockbuster 1997 version of the movie. In that case, Paramount wants to make sure you head to a theater to see the re-released 3D version. The movie is tough to find at home, and nearly cost-prohibitive if you can manage to dig up a copy.
As NPR reports, the movie isn’t available at iTunes, popular streaming services or many video rental stores that have somehow managed to stay open…
